It’s equipped with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M processor with 3GB of GDDR5 memory, which provides plenty of grunt for today’s games. Of course, anyone considering the G751JT will be most interested in how it performs with games. You won’t have any problems with day-to-day tasks or a spot of video editing in between gaming sessions. Desktop performance from the processor was as good as expected with an overall score of 108 in our benchmarks. Thankfully even when under load the fans never picked up to distracting levels. The dual-fan system that keeps the system running cool does a great job of allowing these suitable conditions, too. Inside, a quad-core Intel Core i7-4720HQ processor runs at 2.6GHz and will turbo boost up to 3.6GHz when thermal conditions allow. What the G751 lacks in portability, it of course makes up for with sheer power and performance. Neither the keyboard nor the palm rest area ever become warm under use, which is excellent and a testament to the system’s efficient cooling. All the usual multitouch gestures are supported too. There are dedicated mouse buttons as well, which are preferable to software-controlled all-in-one touchpads. It’s sizeable, and has a generously-sized palm rest area. Most gamers will quickly reach for a USB mouse, the touchpad was surprisingly comfortable to use. Gamers might also appreciate the cursor keys being clearly separated from the rest of the keyboard – there’s no danger of cramped typing here. The entire keyboard is ergonomically angled towards you, thanks to the tapered laptop base. Another shortcut key takes you to Asus’ Gaming Center, which provides quick access to the macro key customizer and ROC GameFirst III settings for ensuring your network conditions are optimised for gaming performance.īeyond these, the keyboard itself is comfortable to type on with a decent amount of travel to the keys. There’s also a one-touch video recording button you can set for instantly capturing gaming footage. Other design flourishes geared towards gamers include the three three programmable macro keys and dedicated Steam key, which opens up Steam in Big Picture Mode, putting your games library within quick reach. The all-important WASD keys have red accented highlights around the edge of the keys to help make them stand out even further. The only complaint I have for the G751 is this rediculous notion that ASUS will not just give us i7 4710HQ owners the gsync option, it can be done, its not hardware related both panel, GPU and connection support it, its a silly license. The keyboard has a similarly glowing red backlight that can be adjusted to different brightness levels.

Any tech worth their stuff knows even if winflash does what it should, the method that most often is more secure and successful is not withing the windows environment.

Case in point the number of users using winflash over the UEFI bios update (preferred) and bricking their units.
ASUS G751JT PRICE SERIES
Well it appears to be a hit or miss thing apparently because I have owned 5 different ROG laptops ranging from the GTX8 series all the way to the 10 series and other than the first model I had that had an issue with blowing out the KB leds when you flashed the bios requiring it be sent in for a new board, all of them worked as advertised, even my G751JT-TH71 I have flashed 5 bios revisions without any issues, I think alot of what you read in the forums is also alot of non-technical consumers doing things, and breaking them. Let’s see how that translates to gaming prowess. Specifically, we’re coming from an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M all the way up to a 3 GB GeForce 970M. All of the models retain the 1 TB hard drive (whether for primary or secondary storage) and comparable CPUs to the i7-4710HQ, so you can safely ignore just about all the other variables. At the lowest end-just $100 less than our test model, at $1,400-there’s the G751JL-DS71, which features a 2 GB GTX 965M, while the top-of-the-line model (the $2,800 G751JY-DH72X) sports a 4 GB GTX 980M with a 512 GB SSD and a whopping 32 GB of DDR3L RAM. Of course, all of the new G751 series machines feature the latest GeForce GPUs, but as always, the prices between them range even more widely than the prospective gaming performance. The jump from the last ASUS ROG machine we reviewed is a significant one given that it’s been around a year and a half since. Performance Part 1: Processor and General.
